Dott is best known for his electric scooter service in several European cities. But the company operates electric bicycles and wants to launch a bicycle sharing service in London and Paris in March 2021.
Dott is currently unemployed in London. So it looks like it will be the company’s 16th city with this launch.
As for the bike, it is designed for Dott and will meet in Portugal. It is built around a colorful frame made of a single piece of aluminum – no welding. The company also chose to install puncture-resistant tires due to the installation of foam tires.
As you can see in the picture, none of the series is visible as it is integrated into a frame. The battery can be replaced by Dott without bringing the entire bike to the charging station. There is also an integrated geolocation system.
“This European-made bicycle is designed to fit our mission: to make travel accessible to all. Our multimodal service (e-bike and e-scooter) will include the same level of efficiency: removable batteries, safe charging, performance by experienced professionals, systematic repairs and refurbishment, ”said co-founder and COO Maxim Romain.
Dott will compete with Lime, who got Jump back in May as part of a deal with Uber. Bolt has been operating cycling services in other cities.
Also, Dott will compete with paid bicycle rental programs, such as Santander Cycles in London and Velib ’in Paris. In Paris alone, Vélib ’now has 400,000 subscribers. As it is a subsidy service, it will be difficult to compete for a price.
